Total War: Warhammer 3 AI Overhaul: New Update Aims for Fairer Gameplay

Total War: Warhammer 3 is getting a major update from Creative Assembly to address long-standing AI issues. The update focuses on fixing the “anti-player bias,” where the AI aggressively targets players over other threats. It will also improve “suicidal” AI behavior, where factions mismanage resources or launch illogical attacks.

AI Improvements and the Upcoming 6.1 Update

Creative Assembly acknowledged that the AI unfairly targets players. Players frequently reported the AI ignoring threats across the map to focus solely on the player. The 6.1 update, releasing on March 25th, aims to resolve these problems.

Beta tests improved the AI’s evaluation system but revealed unintended consequences, such as minor factions being easily defeated by larger empires. These changes won’t be included in update 6.1 due to balance concerns.

Beyond AI: Faction Updates and More

The update includes more than just AI adjustments. Players can expect significant changes for the Kislev faction and adjustments to Kairos Fateweaver. Cathay and Ogre Kingdoms will each receive a new unit. Furthermore, Mother Ostankya, a Kislev character, will be reintegrated into the narrative.

Post-Update Beta and Future AI Refinements

Following the 6.1 update, a new beta will gather player feedback. This phase will test whether the AI strikes a fairer balance, particularly concerning the “anti-player bias” that hinders player progression.

Creative Assembly’s updates are expected to make Total War: Warhammer 3 more balanced and enjoyable. Players are eager to experience a smarter, fairer AI and its impact on the game.
