Tim Willits, CCO at Saber Interactive and a veteran of the DOOM franchise, recently shared an update that seems to confirm the KOTOR Remake’s continued development. In a social media post following the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Willits stated that “Everything that we have talked about is still in development.” He also mentioned that they would share information about upcoming games when they have “something cool” to show.
A Long and Winding Road
The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was initially announced in 2021 for PC and PlayStation 5, with Aspyr as the lead developer. Since then, the project has been plagued by rumors and setbacks. In 2022, reports surfaced that the game was indefinitely delayed and facing significant challenges. Following these reports, Saber Interactive took over the development of the game.
After this official change, silence fell again. In 2023, new rumors emerged, fueled by Saber Interactive’s separation from Embracer Group to become an independent studio.
Official Confirmation from Last Year
The last official statement about the KOTOR Remake project came in April 2024 when Saber Interactive’s boss, Matthew Karch, stated that the remake was “alive and well.”
