# Silent Hill F: Konami Reveals First Trailer for Japan-Set Horror
Konami has released the first trailer for Silent Hill F, a new installment in the iconic horror franchise, after initially announcing the game in late 2022. Developed by Taiwan-based NeoBards Entertainment, Silent Hill F was unveiled during the Silent Hill Transmission livestream.
This marks the first time a Silent Hill game will be set in Japan, moving away from the fictional US settings of previous titles. The game takes place in 1960s Japan, telling the story of “Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager, whose life is upended when her town is suddenly shrouded in a mysterious mist, transforming everything into something horrific.”
Players will navigate the eerie streets of Ebisugaoka, solve intricate puzzles, and confront grotesque monsters as they help Hinako survive.
Producer Motoi Okamoto describes the game’s core concept as “finding beauty within fear,” stating that Silent Hill F aims to preserve the psychological horror elements of the series while exploring new themes through a Japanese setting.
“A prominent characteristic of Japanese horror is the idea that horror can be found within beauty,” says Okamoto. “When something is extremely beautiful and perfect, it becomes deeply unsettling. Players will experience this world through the eyes of a young girl facing a beautiful yet terrifying decision.” (VGC)
Konami has been working to revitalize the classic horror game series with the help of third-party studios. Following the release of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill F represents another step in this strategy. Share your thoughts on the trailer in the comments below!
