New Game in Development from Outer Wilds Studio, Mobius Digital
Mobius Digital, the acclaimed developer behind the indie hit *Outer Wilds*, has confirmed they are quietly working on a brand new game. With the release of the 16th update for their beloved exploration-based sci-fi title, the studio announced they no longer have plans for major *Outer Wilds* content updates and are shifting resources to this unannounced project. Details regarding the new game’s name and gameplay remain scarce, as it’s currently in the early stages of development.
Outer Wilds Developers Announce New Game
Mobius Digital revealed the existence of their new project not through a press release or social media blast, but rather as a postscript in the update notes. The team stated, “We don’t have plans for more large updates to *Outer Wilds* or *Echoes of the Eye*, as we’re currently hard at work on our next game.” This subtle confirmation surprised fans and quickly spread across social media.
The developers cautioned that details about the new game will likely be a long time coming. In a message on X, they said, “It could be years before we have anything concrete to share regarding this new project,” emphasizing the need for patience.
The update that inadvertently revealed the new game primarily focuses on technical fixes. On PC, a bug that disabled certain keys during window focus changes has been resolved. A diagonal movement speed boost issue has also been addressed. Additionally, several animation, lighting, and interaction glitches specific to the *Echoes of the Eye* expansion have been fixed. Improvements have also been made to the user interface and tools like the signalscope.
While the studio mentioned the possibility of minor updates in the future, they emphasized that this is not guaranteed. With the shift to the new project, *Outer Wilds* appears to be entering a period of maturity, having largely completed its journey.
