The Outer Worlds 2: Bigger, Deeper, and More Rewarding RPG Experience
The Outer Worlds, known for its unique RPG experience, is coming back with a highly anticipated sequel. Obsidian Entertainment promises The Outer Worlds 2 will feature larger maps and more in-depth systems, built with the power of Unreal Engine 5. Players can expect a more expansive universe and a personalized journey.
Explore Vast New Worlds:
According to Art Director Daniel Alpert, The Outer Worlds 2 will move beyond limited zones and smaller hubs. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game will offer players a wealth of side quests, loot, and points of interest while traveling from point A to point B. This addresses player feedback regarding limited exploration in the first game.
Discover Hidden Secrets:
Director Brandon Adler emphasized the importance of visual cues in map design. Eye-catching structures visible from a distance will encourage players to deviate from their planned route. These structures won’t just be aesthetically pleasing; they will offer unique rewards, stories, or content upon discovery.
Meaningful Character Specialization:
A notable change in system design is the removal of character respec. Lead Systems Designer Kyle Koenig stated that players will need to be more mindful of each skill point allocation, making character customization more meaningful. Instead of being proficient in all skills, specializing in specific areas will be a core gameplay philosophy in The Outer Worlds 2.
Stealth and Platforms:
The Outer Worlds 2 will also feature an extensive stealth system. The game is set to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Anticipation is building for the major presentation following the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8th, where Obsidian is expected to reveal more details about the game.
