Oblivion Remake Announcement Imminent, Release Sooner Than Expected?
Rumors of an Oblivion remake, initially surfacing in 2023 and later leaking through court documents, suggest Bethesda’s 2006 classic, *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion*, is getting a Unreal Engine 5 makeover. Now, whispers indicate it’s closer than we think.
According to NateTheHate, a leaker with a proven track record, the Oblivion remake could be announced in the coming weeks. The Unreal Engine 5 reimagining is reportedly being developed by Virtuos Games, known for their support on AAA projects and remastered versions of titles like *Dark Souls, Tomb Raider, Call of Duty,* and *BioShock*.
This remake isn’t just a graphical update. Sources suggest it’s a complete overhaul with six “reworked” game systems: stamina, stealth, blocking, archery, enemy reactions, and the HUD. The blocking system is even rumored to draw inspiration from souls-like games.
Virtuos has experience with high-profile remakes, having been reported by VGC to be developing the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake in 2021, a project that was later confirmed. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, where Virtuos is a co-developer, is slated for release on August 28, 2025.
NateTheHate believes the Oblivion remake will be announced this month or by mid-next month, potentially pushing its release date forward from the previously targeted June 2025 window.
