Star Wars KOTOR Remake: Is It Still Alive? New Hope Emerges

The Star Wars KOTOR Remake, a project that felt lost like Schrödinger’s cat, might still be alive! Despite rumors and fading hopes, a new statement suggests development continues, reigniting excitement.

After Saber Interactive’s last update a year ago, silence led to speculation. However, a recent “all projects are still being developed” statement offers a glimmer of hope for the troubled KOTOR remake.

Don’t Give Up Hope: KOTOR Remake Development Continues

Tim Willits, CCO at Saber Interactive and a veteran of DOOM, hinted at the project’s survival. Announcing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Willits stated that “Everything that we have talked about is still in development.” He added that they will share “cool things” when ready.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced in 2021 for PC and PlayStation 5, with Aspyr initially leading development. However, rumors of delays and development troubles surfaced, leading to Saber Interactive taking over in 2022.

After this official change, silence fueled further speculation in 2023, especially as Saber Interactive became independent from Embracer Group.

The last official comment on the KOTOR remake project came in April 2024. Company head Matthew Karch stated the remake was “alive and well,” dismissing rumors. Following these official updates, it’s reasonable to believe the KOTOR remake is still being developed somewhere.
