GTA IV and Max Payne 3 Remasters Rumored for New Consoles
Grand Theft Auto IV, a classic Rockstar Games title, might be returning to modern consoles. According to recent leaks, a remastered version of GTA IV is reportedly in development, potentially launching before the end of 2025. Rumors also suggest Max Payne 3 could receive a similar treatment.
Sources familiar with Rockstar Games indicate that the studio is actively working on bringing GTA IV to current-generation consoles. The project has allegedly been in development for about a year. This news fuels speculation that the removal of the “Liberty City Preservation Project” mod from GTA V may be related to the official remaster.
Beyond GTA IV, rumors point towards a possible Max Payne 3 remaster as well. Following Rockstar’s previous patterns, the game could be updated for modern hardware. The release could potentially coincide with Remedy Entertainment’s remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2, potentially bundled into a “Definitive Edition” collection for both nostalgic fans and new players.
Previous rumors of a GTA IV remaster have circulated without materializing. However, with GTA VI’s reported delay to 2026, Take-Two and Rockstar might see an opportunity to fill the gap with a high-quality GTA IV port, keeping players engaged with the franchise.
These developments remain unconfirmed. Learning from the technical issues experienced with the previous Definitive Edition release, any potential launch is expected to be carefully executed. All eyes are now on Rockstar for an official announcement.
