Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date Pushed to 2026
The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has been officially delayed to 2026. Rockstar Games announced the new release date of May 26, 2026, via a brief statement on social media. This decision moves the launch date back from the previously announced 2025 timeframe.
In their statement, Rockstar Games expressed their regret for the delay, saying, “Grand Theft Auto VI will now be releasing in 26 May 2026. We are sorry this is later than we initially anticipated.” The studio thanked players for their excitement and patience, emphasizing their commitment to exceeding expectations and needing additional time to reach that standard.
While no new details were revealed about the game’s development, it seems a second trailer is not currently planned. Fans have been eagerly awaiting new footage since the release of the first trailer in December 2023.
The delay announcement comes ahead of Take-Two Interactive’s (Rockstar’s parent company) financial meeting on May 15th. Notably, a recent announcement regarding a change in the release date for Borderlands 4 specifically stated that it was unrelated to GTA 6.
The GTA 6 delay has understandably disappointed fans, but Rockstar’s dedication to quality is well-known from their previous titles. The development team has indicated that they will share more details soon.
