New God of War Game Set in Greece Possibly Coming This Year!
Exciting news for God of War fans! While rumors of a remastered trilogy set in Greece have been circulating, it seems we might be getting something even better: a brand new side story set in the Greek mythological world.
According to Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, this isn’t a remaster collection, but a completely new adventure. This marks a potential return to the series’ roots, as the initial God of War games heavily explored Greek mythology before the 2018 reboot shifted focus to Norse mythology.
While original plans didn’t include a trilogy building upon 2018’s God of War, God of War Ragnarök did leave some narrative threads open for future installments. Grubb’s information suggests that we could be seeing those threads explored in this new Greek-themed title.
In a Bluesky post, Grubb stated, “OK. Everyone keeps asking about this, so I’ve tried to find out more: There’s still a Greek God of War thing coming out this year, but it’s not a remaster collection. It’s a new side-story project.”
Regarding the previous “God of War Greek Remaster” rumors, he clarified, “I never talked about a remaster collection, but when I asked a source about the rumors they told me there would be no God of War at State of Play, but something might come out during the anniversary.”
Sony’s 20th anniversary celebrations for God of War primarily focused on in-game content, making this potential new side story even more intriguing. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
