New God of War Game Set in Greece Rumored to Launch This Year!
Exciting news for God of War fans! While rumors of a remastered trilogy release set in Greece didn’t pan out during the 20th anniversary, a new “side story” set in the Greek mythology era might be coming this year, according to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb.
This suggests a potential return to the series’ roots, as the early God of War games were heavily based on Greek mythology before the 2018 reboot shifted the focus to Norse mythology.
Grubb shared the information on Bluesky, stating, “OK. Everyone keeps asking about this, so I’ve tried to find out more: There’s still a Greek God of War thing coming out this year, but it’s not a remaster collection. It’s a new side-story project.”
While a “God of War Greek Remaster” collection seems unlikely, Grubb mentioned he was told that while there wouldn’t be a God of War announcement at the State of Play event, something might still be revealed during the anniversary celebrations.
For the 20th anniversary, Sony mainly focused on in-game content announcements. This new rumor of a Greek-themed side story could be the bigger reveal fans have been waiting for! Stay tuned for more updates.
