Disco Elysium Sequel X7 Revealed

Lost Disco Elysium Story: Leaked Details of Cancelled “Locust City”

Leaks surrounding “Project X7,” the cancelled Disco Elysium spin-off, have ignited excitement among fans. This game, reportedly titled “Locust City – An Elysium Story,” would have centered around the fan-favorite characters Cuno and Cunoesse. Sadly, the project was cancelled earlier this year, but new leaks reveal intriguing details about its story and gameplay mechanics.

“Locust City” aimed to deliver a single-player cooperative experience where players could switch between Cuno and Cunoesse. While they were supporting characters in the original Disco Elysium, this game would have provided a deeper exploration of their inner worlds.

The leaked information suggests Cuno would have utilized Disco Elysium’s classic Inland Empire skill, while Cunoesse would have used Authority. Furthermore, entirely new skills like Pursuit and Ambush were planned. The ability for both characters to participate in skill checks together would have added a unique cooperative mechanic to the gameplay.

# Story and Gameplay of “Locust City”

The story was set to follow Cuno and Cunoesse’s escape from Martinaise after a murder. The five-part narrative would have offered players four or five different endings based on their choices.

Characters would have had separate inventories, and items within those inventories would have provided different effects. For example, a hat might boost Cuno’s Encyclopedia skill, while giving Cunoesse a sense of height, improving her Authority skill.

Developers also planned for the locusts Cuno carries in his box to form a colony. Based on player decisions, this colony could have evolved and developed its own political system.

While these details are exciting for Disco Elysium fans, the game’s cancellation remains a major disappointment. ZA/UM studios is currently working on a mobile game completely separate from the Disco Elysium universe. Meanwhile, former team members are pursuing new independent projects. This lost Disco Elysium story leaves players wondering, “what if?”
