# Crimson Desert: A Showcase for the BlackSpace Engine
Pearl Abyss presented new footage demonstrating the power of their BlackSpace Engine at GDC, setting high expectations for Crimson Desert’s technical achievements. The game looks to be pushing boundaries in terms of graphical fidelity and realistic simulations.

The video highlights several key features of the BlackSpace Engine driving Crimson Desert. Early on, the water system and level of detail are striking. Later, interactive fog effects truly shine. The engine’s specialized systems will simulate realistic oceans and shallow waters. Furthermore, volumetric fog will dynamically react to player movement and position, creating the illusion of dispersing fog as you move through it.
Beyond water and fog, Crimson Desert will feature GPU-based cloth and hair simulations. This means character and animal hair/fur will be realistically rendered. Similarly, fabrics hanging in the environment or on characters’ clothing will realistically react to wind and movement.
The game will also support ray tracing and feature a dynamic day/night cycle.
