Clover Okami: More Than Just Okami

Clover Studio Hints at Future Projects Beyond Okami Sequel

Clover Studio, currently working on the highly anticipated Okami sequel, has shared exciting news about their future plans. In a recent interview, studio head Hideki Kamiya, along with former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama, revealed that their ambitions extend far beyond just Okami.

The duo expressed their openness to developing a brand new IP, a sequel to another existing franchise, or even a spiritual successor to a beloved title. Clover Studio isn’t restricting themselves to any particular path, emphasizing their core focus on creating captivating gaming experiences.

Koyama stated that Clover Studio is open to all game development approaches, with the main goal being to create “interesting games.” Kamiya added, “If we are asked to work on an existing IP and it seems interesting to adapt the project in our own style, we will do it.” He also confirmed their willingness to embark on a completely original project.

While Kamiya confirmed that their current project is tied to a past IP they were involved with, he clarified that this is not the limit of the studio’s potential. Clover Studio aims to surprise and delight players with diverse game types in the future.

The Okami sequel has generated considerable excitement for Clover Studio. However, the studio’s broader vision aims to contribute significantly to the gaming world beyond this single project. Koyama and Kamiya emphasized their desire to work on projects that evoke a “wow” feeling, adopting a creative approach unbound by any specific IP.

What Clover Studio will pursue after the Okami sequel remains unknown. However, it’s clear that the studio operates with a wide-ranging vision and is open to projects that could resonate deeply within the gaming community. They are poised to make a significant impact.
