Ciri’s Combat: Smoother in Witcher 4?

The Witcher 4: Ciri’s Fighting Style Will Be Radically Different

Fans of The Witcher series have long awaited a game starring Ciri, and CD Projekt Red is poised to deliver in The Witcher 4. Developers have revealed that Ciri’s combat style will be completely distinct from Geralt’s, both visually and mechanically. Her fighting style will emphasize agility and fluidity, offering players a fresh and engaging experience. This change addresses a major criticism of The Witcher 3: its combat mechanics.

Why Ciri’s Combat is Unique

In CD Projekt Red’s AnsweRED Podcast, senior community manager Pawel Burza explained how Ciri’s fighting style will differ from Geralt’s. “Geralt, even though he is agile, he feels a little bit like a block. Ciri is like liquid,” Burza stated. He also noted Ciri’s smaller and more agile build, which gives her an advantage in combat.

Game director Sebastian Kalemba added that Ciri moves as if she were raised by wolves in Kaer Morhen. He emphasized that Ciri’s fighting style aligns with her personality and posture. The Witcher 3 offered a glimpse of Ciri’s agility in playable segments, but The Witcher 4 aims to develop this style further, making it more detailed and deeply integrated into the gameplay.

The Witcher 4 also focuses on overhauling the series’ combat mechanics. Geralt’s fighting style was criticized for feeling heavy and repetitive. Ciri’s faster and more fluid style promises a more dynamic combat experience for players.

While The Witcher 4’s release date remains unannounced, CD Projekt Red’s innovative approach has generated considerable excitement among fans. We’ll have to wait a little longer to fully explore Ciri’s unique fighting style.
