The previous Steam record for an Assassin’s Creed game was held by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, with 62,069 players. Odyssey, released in 2018, was a fan favorite and remained the most played Assassin’s Creed game on Steam for a long time. However, Ubisoft’s decision to withhold new releases from Steam limited the potential for breaking that record. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Mirage failed to achieve the same concurrent player numbers, with Valhalla reaching 15,679 players and Mirage peaking at 7,870.

With Shadows launching on Steam from day one, the series now boasts a new record. This number is expected to grow as positive reviews and word-of-mouth encourage more players to experience the game.
