Fallout 3 Remaster: Still in Development, But Don’t Hold Your Breath

Following leaked images of the Oblivion Remastered project, attention has turned to the rumored Fallout 3 Remaster. This project, mentioned in documents revealed during Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, has been shrouded in silence for some time. However, reliable sources suggest the project is still alive, although fans may need to be patient.

Fallout 3 Remaster is Coming, Eventually

The Fallout 3 Remaster was first revealed in leaked Bethesda documents during the FTC lawsuit two years ago. The document indicated a FY2022 release for Oblivion Remastered and a FY2024 release for Fallout 3 Remaster. The leaked images of Oblivion, confirmed to be developed by Virtuos, reignited hope for Fallout 3.

According to reliable insider NateTheHate2, Fallout 3 Remaster is still in development. However, the release date remains unknown. Nate suggests it will “take some time” before the project is complete, implying a launch is not imminent.

The leaked release schedule placed Fallout 3 Remaster in the same year as The Elder Scrolls VI. But with development on TES VI only beginning in 2023, both projects appear to be several years away. Furthermore, Oblivion Remastered has already missed its initially planned release year.

It’s debatable how accurate the initial schedule remains after two years. However, it’s clear that Fallout 3 Remaster has not been canceled. With the Oblivion remake confirmed, a similar surprise for Fallout 3 may not be too far off. For now, fans will have to wait and see.
