Hogwarts Legacy Expansion & Definitive Edition Canceled?

Hogwarts Legacy DLC and Complete Edition Reportedly Canceled

Rumors are circulating that the planned DLC and a complete “Definitive Edition” of Hogwarts Legacy have been canceled. This follows reports of Warner Brothers struggling to achieve desired success in the gaming industry.

According to a report by Jason Schreier at Bloomberg, Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. has scrapped the expansion pack planned for Hogwarts Legacy due to “restructuring” within its video game division.

This DLC was expected to add new stories to the game and potentially be released alongside a “Definitive Edition” that included all existing content. However, those plans are reportedly off the table. It’s important to note that this information hasn’t been officially confirmed by Warner Bros.

Despite the success of Hogwarts Legacy, which has sold over 34 million copies and was the best-selling game of 2023, it seems to be affected by the company’s overall challenges. There were even rumors that the DLC was being developed in collaboration with Rocksteady, the studio behind Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a game that reportedly cost Warner Bros. over $200 million in losses.

Hogwarts Legacy Sequel Still in Development

While the DLC cancellation is disappointing, Warner Bros. has reiterated their commitment to a sequel. Last September, the company stated that “a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities for us, and it’s in development.” There haven’t been any announcements to the contrary, suggesting that the sequel is still moving forward.

In summary: The Hogwarts Legacy DLC is reportedly canceled, but there’s no news to suggest the sequel’s development is affected. We’ll keep you updated on any new developments. Follow us on social media for the latest news!
