Counter-Strike 2 Breaks Player Count Record Again!
Counter-Strike 2 has once again shattered its own player count record, further distancing itself from games like Monster Hunter Wilds. Valve’s competitive FPS continues to grow in popularity, reaching a peak of 1,824,989 concurrent players on March 15th. This achievement coincides with Steam’s record-breaking year, having recently surpassed 40 million concurrent online users.
This new record solidifies Counter-Strike 2’s position as the 4th most-played game of all time on Steam based on concurrent player count. It’s currently followed by Monster Hunter Wilds (1.38 million) and trails Palworld (2.1 million).
Valve attributes this growth to several factors, including the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and continued improvements to the Steam platform. They highlighted that concurrent users on Steam have nearly doubled since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Valve is constantly enhancing Steam with user-friendly features. Recent updates include a revamped family sharing system and the introduction of Steam Game Recording, eliminating the need for third-party recording software. These updates contribute to Steam’s ongoing popularity and ability to retain its user base.

The situation for Counter-Strike 2 players in Turkey is slightly unique. Due to fluctuating exchange rates and bank commissions associated with the MENA$ pricing system, purchasing games has become increasingly difficult. As a result, the value of in-game drops (cases) and their subsequent sale on the Steam Community Market has increased. Many Turkish players are now playing Counter-Strike 2 primarily to earn Steam Wallet funds to purchase other games. While this situation isn’t ideal, it provides a valuable option for Turkish gamers.
